Songbird 1.0 is available, get it while it’s hot!
Congratulations for the SB team for working hard and succeding this media player to reach 1.0 milestone.
Long story short, many things have been achieved, and while of course many other things are still waiting to be implemented, I can conclude that Songbird as of now is quite usable, stable and not resource hungry-at least not as it were before.
The most notable improvement in this 1.0 version is faster search, sort and adding music to library. By faster I mean it really is many times faster and more responsive-You won’t have any freezing when adding or deleting one letter from your search keyword as you would experienced in 0.7. I feel that CPU usage is also reduced, and don’t forget that while I haven’t tested this feature, it is said that adding tracks to the library is also faster.
Some features that I would like to see in the future is the ability to drag and drop tracks betweeen various applications (will be useful for burning CD using another CD burner app, for example) and also the ability to remove tracks physically from within the library.
This is of course just a small list of all the improvement done-for full list please check the 1.0 release note.
And look forward to the upcoming features, this media player is definitely one we should keep an eye on.
Background: Songbird is a complete open source library management tool and music player (comparable to the likes of iTunes or winamp) application that has the added capability of being highly customisable (and by default loaded with some interesting add-ons), and is integrated tightly with many internet service, to name a few, Magnatune and The Hype Machine.
Unlike most common media player, Songbird is quite capable of playing musics from music blogs which makes the experience of finding new songs very simple and fast.
I haven’t been around for like, a month or maybe two, and if you could spare a second to guess the reason I bet you get it right at the first try: It was the damned college examination period!
As much as I want to escape from those vexing times of course I was forced to spend my time like most of fellow unwilling college students do: I studied.
And now that exams are done, to celebrate my status as a man with freedom from anything intellectual and academic, I’ve created this mix.
It consist of whatever songs I’m currently listening to. Pop/rock (Ladyhawke anyone?), old disco/rap, new disco stuff mimicking the old 80s, house, indie/electro, and name everything else that you could think of.
I uploaded it at Mixeeba considering their promises of keeping our mix on their server forever. Don’t let us down Mixeeba!

This mix has alot of melodic track, I’ve been into them for quite sometime and still haven’t got enough. Electro, techno, bass, how are you guys doing there? Haven’t check you guys for a long time.
Oh and yeah I do realise that some of my mixes hosted on mediafire are now unavailable due to my file being removed from the server. Later I’ll also put them on Mixeeba so nothing like this would happen again.
And on a side note, I’ll be on vacation for the next 2-3 months so I won’t be able to do any mixes on the meantime. So what I’ll do to made up is I’ll post what song I listen at the current moment, and I’ll do a short review of the song and maybe the artist if I feel the song is catchy and repeat-worthy.

The 80s sound in the EDM world have been around for a while. Looks like it revives at about the same time as when the zombie Kavinsky ressurects (har har), or even before that. And is as addictive as ever! This mix includes some of the best tracks in the genre IMO, ranging from soft melodic riff to the harsh sound of distorted guitar that somehow still retains the feeling of 80s synth. Oh and the mix includes slight crossover to some of my favourite house tunes too. So check this out.
Listen to it whenever you want to feel heroic – this mix is full of super cool melodic riff that makes you feel you’re driving a Ferarri Testarossa at full speed on the longest, deserted country road at sunset just before the dark.
